Stress related illnesses are responsible for much of the countries high absenteeism.
Ongoing pressure exceeding the individuals perceived ability to cope can result in ill health, examples include:

- Palpitations
- Angina and chest pains which may lead to heart attacks

- Frequent colds or other infections due to a weakened immune system
- Anxiety and depression

Health Clinics
Physical wellbeing strengthens the immune system, skeletal system and metabolism improving both physical and mental function. Health clinics aim to raise awareness of individual physical health and are delivered in two parts:
- Body composition – a simple test to identify hydration, body fat, bone density, metabolism, visceral fat and muscle mass.
- An analysis of diet, relaxation, sleep patterns and activity
Taking care of overall wellbeing will help people protect themselves against:
- Heart disease
- Strokes
- Low level mental health issues

Community health programmes
‘Libraries for Health Libraries for Life’ :
Active Aims td is responsible for the development and progression of this very successful community programme. Improving the provision of health and wellbeing information supplied by the libraries of Haringey is both innovative and unique. Haringey libraries now proudly offer one:one mental health consultancy (IAPT), free exercise classes and walking programmes, smoking cessation classes (NHS), sexual health information and support (NHS), health checks (cholesterol, blood pressure, HIV, Chlamydia ), raising awareness of stroke and delivery of post stroke therapy (different strokes). Haringey Libraries now offer health and fitness qualifications, aimed at boosting knowledge and confidence:
- Level 1 award in lifestyle management
- Level 1 Introduction to exercise and fitness instruction
